About me

Ian Onis // Pavel Yanonis.

Introspective yet cosmopolitan electronics by a nomad-producer.

There’s a certain expression - “digital nomad”

- that is meant to describe the lifestyle and vibe of people like Pavel Yanonis. Presenting a blend of Lithuanian, Polish and Russian

blood, he has recently settled in London where he works in an international fintech company, however, his true life project is music.

Pavel soon sets up a humble studio in his rented apartment in Shoreditch to create an

inward- looking electronics under the nick-name of Ian Onis. His music embraces multiple

personal travel experiences across continents - from Africa to South-East Asia.

Pavel Yanonis was born in 1990 on the outskirts of Moscow. His interest in music originated,

as for many of his peers, in hip-hop and developed backwards to the roots, to classic funk,

soul and disco. Together with his elder brother, Pavel launched “Burevestnik Zvuk” parties.

Those were held in students’ camp of Moscow State University as well as in night clubs and

were to mix tapes from 1960-70 with current sounds. Having established himself as a DJ,

Pavel dived into producing his own music. He tenderly fuses hip-hop technique with love to

classic British electronics (Massive Attack, UNKLE, Everything But The Girl) presenting it in

a diary-like narrative filled with emotional experiences.

Light melodies, yet profound groove and eclectic palette of tools together with cosmopolitan essence of

Pavel’s tracks are imagining him as a producer that’s dreaming about the world with no

borders, welcoming diversity of peoples and striving to unite them in his work. Relocation

and re-establishment in a new environment have reasonably become the keynote of his

latest releases. «I create music because i pray this way»,

- producer confesses.
